Marina's Ceramics Story

A ceramic artist and educator bringing the pottery tradition to Lisbon with passion and precision.

From Clay to Community

I fell in love with pottery at 16, watching a potter at a craft fair in Porto shape clay like it was speaking to her hands. Twelve years later, I’m still learning something new every time I approach the wheel.

For the past decade, I’ve been running my own studio in Lisbon, creating both commissioned pieces for restaurants and homes across Portugal, and teaching anyone willing to get their hands dirty how to center clay. My work has been featured in local galleries and private collections, and I’ve given workshops at design centers and cultural spaces throughout the city.

Teaching is as important to me as making. There’s something special about watching someone place their hands on the clay for the first time and feel the possibilities shift in their mind. That moment—when the clay stops fighting and starts cooperating—that’s why I do this.

Every piece that leaves my studio, whether a dinner set for a Michelin-starred restaurant or a first mug from a beginner, carries the same intention: to be used, enjoyed, and lived with. That’s the ceramicist’s legacy.
